Sónar 2010 – Barcelona, Spain
The festival attracts a lot of outsiders, but the Mediterranean, Spanish and more specifically Catalan nature of the people makes the festival what it is. Catalan people are passionate and this passion is infectious. The atmosphere is electric in Barcelona as a city and heightened by music and intoxicants at Sónar.

Summer or winter, skiing is always on the mind!
This past year, our group decided that it was time to go on a real, multi-day back country, no showers, no hot tubs, type ski trip. In August I got a shiny new set of ski boots. In November we booked our trip for March and come December my husband and I started ‘practicing’.

Dining in Paros, Greece: Sho-Sho
Wine, bread, appetizer entrée all arrived in such perfect succession that it was obvious that these owners are just as excited for you to taste their delectable creations as you are to taste them. Another nice treat was the large selection of exclusively local wines that this restaurant stocks with a description of where in the country they come from.

Jon Freer’s City Guides – York
York sits at the converging point of two rivers, the Foss and the Ouse. These rivers stretch through the centre of the city and the riverbanks offer a lovely place for a respite after exploring the city.

Graz: Austria’s hidden Gem
The mix of modern and historic design works amazingly well, and sets a tone for the visitor. This tone is one depicting elegant old culture that accepts the modern and new, and that strives to continue to develop a future of unmatched enriching charisma that pushes usual, ordinary limitations.

springsix: electronic music utopia
The combination of venues and music is what makes it electric. I can barely digest it thinking back to it. It is four filled days of perpetual events. It is huge. The list of artists and shows is extensive.

The adventure of Thailand
This place looked awesome, beautiful beach, beautiful restaurant / bar and great little bungalows to sleep in. All within a stones throw of the beach. We could easily spend the rest of trip here.

Why I can’t play video games anymore.
He knows all the calibres the stats magazine sizes, types of scopes manufacturers, accuracy, damage and so on. He is 8 and he is in grade 3. What do you know in grade 3? Geography? History? Math?

The Royal Tyrell Museum
There are dinosaurs on street corners, sidewalks, besides the grocery store, everywhere. In fact, Drumheller even has the world’s largest Dinosaur.

Air Canada: A Review
Anyone who has followed R4NT for a while will know that I keep close tabs on the operations of Air Canada. Generally speaking my opinion has not been complimentary…

Kingston to Calgary
With first-round plans to move to Vancouver and meet up with a college buddy, I finally managed to convince a close friend of mine to ditch his crap-hole job and come with me.

A Visit to a Nation’s Capital
What is really great is that you can even get a tour of the heart of a democracy. I can’t speak for all nations but I know that in England, the US and Germany you can not get full-fledged tours..

A Cultural City Break in Ottawa
The Group of Seven paintings were a highlight for me, and the National Gallery of Canada has the most comprehensive collection of these paintings in the world.

Santa Cruz & The Monterey Peninsula
There are also some excellent wineries in the area, especially up Carmel valley which won’t be as crowded as the “super-wineries” of the Napa Valley area…

The Cost of War
Almost all of these revelations occurred to me over a couple weeks driving around Abadan Iran, an area that was the center of the Iran Iraq war 18 years ago. Over a million people died in that war.

Make Prince Edward Island your next vacation destination
One specific area that is likely to be overlooked is the Canadian Maritime Provinces. Surrounded by so many travel options in North America and beyond, PEI is easy to miss, but this small island is truly a gem.

Air Miles Expose
Do you collect Air Miles? The Miles with the little blue card that you get (on average) 1 mile for every $20 you spend at a participating retailer?

Air Canada Sucks…?
Bashing Air Canada is a national hobby, if not just for the customer service but also for their appalling lack of business know-how.

Steam Whistle Brewery (Toronto)
Bottoms up
Sure Toronto might be expensive *cough* CN Tower *cough*, but all you need is about $5 and a pint of beer to have a really good time. Funny enough good times are to be found right about a five minute walk from the CN Tower in an old converted Rail Station (CPR John Street … -
Ontario Science Centre (Toronto)
Kids going ape
The Ontario Science Centre advertises ‘Discover how much fun science can be’ and it definitely delivers, to a point. The OSC is a classic example of ‘hands on’ learning, and how to make science ‘fun’. Of course you can tell from this description already that the OSC’s target market is children probably … -
New Sky Restaurant (Toronto)
MaxPower: How do you choose a Chinese food restaurant in Chinatown when there are about 50 in a 5 block radius? You look for the one that is packed with Chinese people at 6:30PM and then pick that one. That’s exactly what we did one night when we were looking for a good (and cheap) …

Royal Onatrio Museum (Toronto)
In spite of suffering from a slight case of museum fatigue, the intrepid reporters from R4NT made their way to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) at about 3 o’clock on a Saturday. It was very crowded around the ROM as there were crews setting up for the Santa Claus parade which was going to take …

The Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto)
Degas at the AGO
The R4NT crew walked to the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) after visiting Toronto’s famous CN Tower. We entered the lobby of the Gallery and found ourselves standing in a large room containing several information booths and pamphlet stands. The ticket line was pleasingly short, and we were able to get tickets … -
Toronto: Black Bull Tavern
Maxpower: The Black Bull Tavern has a lot of potential, I have walked by it many times and commented on its good location – Queen Street West – and their history – established 1833, it also won Best Outdoor Patio in Toronto in 2001. But like all things that you think will be …

CN Tower
When one thinks of Toronto, the image of the CN tower is surely a forerunner. Boasted as ‘Canada’s Wonder of the World’, it is an impressive 553.33m high tower that is the heart of Canada’s telecommunications. It is situated in the down town core of Toronto and is an attraction for millions of …

New Zealand: Head Over Heels!
After being lost, tired, hungry, staying in a circa 1900’s prison cell like hostel, and quite affected by the stench – my friend and I took on one last adventure on our way south..

The Six Best Museums in London
Not everyone has the chance to go to London; however, everyone should try to go at least once if only for the museums. London has over 200 museums which attract over 30 million people to visit them every year.
Accordingly I have put together a handy package of information regarding each of the major museums in … -
Iran shirt shopping
Iranians are so happy to meet travelers. You quickly attain celebrity status. It is great, yet it is overwhelming. Everyone is so nice all of the time it is impossible to get any freedom to do anything. It sounds strange and it is..

Tourist vs. Traveler
Well intentioned and inspired as I might consider myself. I am still a tourist. I take photos of everywhere I go. I visit the beautiful places. I see some of the other places, I meet locals but I can not become a one..

Day to remember
