This is Prick. Prick is a very fun poodle, but unfortunately, he doesn’t have any friends. |
Prick is unhappy because every time he tries to make a new friend, they end up leaving him. |
Today, Prick is ready to try again. Ready to see if there is anyone out there for him. |
With a spin of his tail, he heads off on his journey in search of a new and exciting friend. |

“Hey, there is General Gord, maybe he will be my friend“, Prick says to himself. |
”Excuse me, but will you be my new friend?“, he asks. |
”Well that depends. Can you ride like the wind on a horse?“, asks General Gord. |
”No, I can’t.“, replies Prick, as General Gord rides off. |

Hey, there is Boris Bear. He looks like fun. |
”Excuse me, but will you be my new friend?“, he asks. |
”Well that depends. Can you cross-country ski?“, asks Boris. |
”No, I can’t.“, replies Prick, as Boris skis away. |

”This sucks!“, Prick thinks to himself. ”Time for a break“. |
Just as Prick finishes, Ian Thornley and his pals happen to wonder by. |
”Excuse me, but will you be my new friend?“, Prick asks. |
”No, I can’t.“ responds Prick, and after Big Wreck leaves, Prick becomes very angry. ”Why is this so hard?“, he asks himself. |

Just then Tom Tomato rolls by. |
”You seem like a nice enough poodle. Sure I’ll be your friend“, replies Tom. |
”Hurray!“, Prick is so happy to finally have a new friend, that he jumps up on Tom’s face to give him a big doggy lick. |
”NO… STOP…“, screams Tom. ”You’re hurting me!“. |

”Please stop! Please“, begs Tom. |
”Oh no, what have I done?“, thinks Prick. He feels sick at the thought of what he had just done to poor Tom. |
”At this rate, I’ll never find a new friend“, he pouts. |
”Excuse me?“, asks Billy Bear from behind him. |

”I just packed this lovely tomato picnic and I have no one to share it with. Would you like to join me?“ |
”I would love to“, replies Prick. ”But I would probably end up hurting you.“ |
”Aww, gee…“, replies Billy. ”Say, I think I might have an idea. Let me try something.“ |
”Huh?“ … ”WOW… Thank you so much“, says Prick, as he admires what Billy had done. |

”Now I will never hurt anyone ever again. Excuse me, but will you be my new friend?“, Prick asks. |
And with that, Prick and his new friend spent the rest of the day enjoying a wonderful tomato picnic together. |

More from Ian Harding:
-
Jarhead
No one man tries to be the hero and as Operation Desert Shield turns into Desert Storm, the film does a good job of portraying the events that took place in the sand-ridden planes of heat and sweat.
-
Star Wars – Clone Wars
Bright colours, action, and the sound of lightsabers. Oh lightsabers. An element very specific to only one saga of films: Star Wars.
Not having “episode” in the title, Star Wars: The Clone Wars leaves one pondering its existence. Heck, even I didn’t know it existed until I saw it. The hype and PR around this film … -
iPod v5
When it comes to expensive electronics, believe me, I treat them as if I gave birth to them. So when I squinted at the pristine surface glare from the white object encased within, I knew I had a task ahead of me.
-
Spore
I very quickly found that designing my own elements was more tedious than enjoyable. It got to the point where I would put a block, a window, and a door, and click save just so that I could move on with the game.
-
Unaccompanied Minors
Forget blazing guns, futuristic creatures, and countless uses of profanity. Unaccompanied Minors is pure fun that both children and adults looking for a holiday season kick-start can enjoy.
-
Indiana Jones Does It Again
He may not have been a super hero, but a hero he was. With nothing but a whip and a plethora of archaeological knowledge that he had learned over the years both by his own studies and from that of his father, Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones became a household name to everyone.
Other recent features:

Sónar 2010 – Barcelona, Spain
The festival attracts a lot of outsiders, but the Mediterranean, Spanish and more specifically Catalan nature of the people makes the festival what it is. Catalan people are passionate and this passion is infectious. The atmosphere is electric in Barcelona as a city and heightened by music and intoxicants at Sónar.

Summer Party Naval Styles at Seven RestoLounge
Oysters, like wine are affected by terroir and these Miyagi’s flavor profiles ranged with one showing a cleaner, almost tropical profile and the other being more salty, marine driven. As I was devouring the seemingly endless plates put in front of us, I sipped on a glass of fine sauvignon blanc.

R4NT Radio March 2010
R4NT Radio March 2010 um wow it’s been far too long since the last edition edition, featuring: Hector Hernandez, The Infesticons, Blockhead, Gramatik, Emika, Thunderheist, Parov Stelar, Eddy Meets Yannah, Anti-Pop Consortium, The Slew, Lighterthief, Andreya Triana, Parasyte Woman, Mathon, Venetian Snares, and Funki Porcini.

O Restaurant & Lounge revisited
Calgary has a diverse set of urban communities, most of which have the ubiquitous strip mall watering hole. In the South West community of Marda Loop, a reinvention of this paradigm has been established.

Predictions 2010.. and beyond!
So 2010 eh? Almost but not quite (no year zero they say) another decade? It seems like just yesterday that the world was waiting for Y2K. R4NT started publishing in March 2001, so we’re not quite 10 years old yet, but in internet years we are already a senior citizen.

Invictus
No matter what, the reality of Nelson Mandela is something that deserves screen time. Should this film even remotely intrigue the masses to take interest in this figure, the world would likely benefit greatly from it.
