Banging in the Beats
This has to be the most media fuelled promotion we have offered for your readers, to date!
This fall, Ninja Tune drop the beats to keep you dancing and then to offer you a bit of lush relief. Ninja’s summer singles from Treva Whateva’s “Havana Ball” to the luishness of Loka’s & Super Numeri, released in early September to the exclusiveness of Kid Koala’s “Skanky Panky” from the October LP release. There’s an exclusive premiere of Jaga Jazzists new video “Day” which is currently being remixed by The Cinematic Orchestra! Once again Ninja bang out the beats stretching perceptions of things we can only describe as jazz plus, beats plus, hip hop and soundtracks plus a whole lot more that has to be heard and not described!
Below you will find all the ‘direct to file’ hyperlinks of ten, yes, 10 full-length audio streams (in both Real Audio & Windows Media), the ‘direct to file’ hyperlinks for a free MP3 download of five of the songs featured, as well as five, terrific full-length video streams.

Super Numeri– The Coastal Bird Scene pt.1
Just released on 12″ vinyl only, The Coastal Bird Scene is music inspired by mermaids and the hauntingness of the English pastoral seascape, flutebirds and harps. It’s all there washing along the seaside with stunning harmonic jazz in a Pharoah Sanders vein.
Windows Media – Real Media – FREE MP3
Loka– Beginningless
Another vinyl only gem which fans of cinematic lushness with percussive jazzual drama will find stunning and emotionally moving. This is just the beginning of dramatic things to come.
Windows Media – Real Media – FREE MP3
Homelife– Wobbly Jack
The added ingredient for listening to Homelife’s “Wobbly Jack” is half a drunk bottle of Jack Daniels; you can get up and show the whole party how to do the “Wobbly Jack” and this is your Karaoke Dance soundtrack. Along with “Havana Ball”…
Windows Media – Real Media – FREE MP3
Chris Bowden– Crockers & Killers (Palmskin Remix)
Chris Bowden, recently nominated by BBC2&3 as Jazz Newcomer of the year, teams up with Palmskin Productions to deliver the ultimate summer Bahia brazilian low tempered scorcher. You can almost hear the crockers and the killer wind rushing by.
Windows Media – Real Media – FREE MP3
Mr Scruff – Giffin (A.O.S Mix)
Amalgamation of Soundz add some jazzual percussive dance action to this remix not due out till late October. Another “Giffin” to kick your heels up at, loadsa percussion & lotsa funk to wobble your jack and bounce around to. No wonder Mr. Scruff sells out every 6 hour danceathon wherever he goes!
Kid Koala – Skanky Panky
Kid Koala delivers the most jazzual skanky bluesy track. This isn’t a scratch record, the scratches are just another instrument. You’ll be guessing just how he got the turntable to sound like a trumpet. This preview from the LP “Some of My Best Friends are DJ’s” due early October.
The Herbaliser – Tea & Beer (feat. Jean Grae)
From the forthcoming Solid Steel presents “The Herbaliser: Herbal Blend” in late September, this preview track re-blended for the album is about the difficulty of mixing “Tea & Beer” & features the rapfunketry of Jean Grae.
Cookie Monster & The Girls – Pinball Number Count
What’s Sesame Street doing on Ninja Tune? Just in time to celebrate the 35th anniversary of their very first show in the US, Sesame Street & Ninja Tune have teamed up to release a super rare disco remix by Larry Levan and the previously unavailable and much loved ‘Pinball Number Count’ by The Pointer Sisters. This is just a taster for the limited edition vinyl, and there’s a whole box set of Sesame Street music coming to you in late September.
Bonobo – ‘Pick Up’ (Fourtet Mix)
Bonobo and the critically acclaimed FourTet team up for this break jazz version of ‘Pick Up’ on the ‘Flutter’ EP due out in late October. ‘Pick Up’ moves in another dimension and takes on a lot more kicks.

Sónar 2010 – Barcelona, Spain
The festival attracts a lot of outsiders, but the Mediterranean, Spanish and more specifically Catalan nature of the people makes the festival what it is. Summer Party Naval Styles at Seven RestoLounge
Oysters, like wine are affected by terroir and these Miyagi’s flavor profiles ranged with one showing a cleaner, almost tropical profile and the other being more salty, marine driven. As I was devouring the seemingly endless plates put in front of us, I sipped on a glass of fine sauvignon blanc.

Predictions 2010.. and beyond!
So 2010 eh? Almost but not quite (no year zero they say) another decade? It seems like just yesterday that the world was waiting for Y2K. R4NT started publishing in March 2001, so we’re not quite 10 years old yet, but in internet years we are already a senior citizen.

Invictus
No matter what, the reality of Nelson Mandela is something that deserves screen time. Should this film even remotely intrigue the masses to take interest in this figure, the world would likely benefit greatly from it.
