Long the Sour Patch Kids

MaxPower November 2nd, 2006

That’s right friends, go long the Sour Patch kids, Long or Short Capital has instituted a Candy Asset Exchange, based on actual trading of left-over Halloween candy.

Market values of popular candies, serving size is “fun size” unless noted otherwise, based on actual market trading.* Does not include any candy broker fees or other transaction costs.

SKITTLES : 2.9 MILKY WAYS
SNICKERS : 15 units of CANDY CORN
CHARLESTON CHEW : 0.46 SNICKERS
ROLO’s : 0.8 SKITTLES
APPLE : 1/40 of a SNICKERS
TOBLERONE : 3 APPLES

More Here

Another way to play this would be to long the Apple as the inevitable Halloween candy hang-over hits, the demand for Apple will rally and you’ll be able to do a switch into Snickers bars at a better valuation.

That or you could play the Snickers/Apple/Toblerone spread and start going long the apple to arb the snickers/toblerone gap, which is way out of wack right now.

I think Sour Patch Kids is the palladium of the candy world: THREE MUSKETEERS : 0.25 SOURPATCH KIDS
