What happened to the Tunes?
While driving home the other day, and being forced to listen to the radio, I actually slammed on the brakes in the midst of traffic. After the avalanche of squealing tires and grotesque expletives completed raining down on me, I was able to mentally articulate what had caused me to screech to a halt in the middle of Blackfoot.
A revelation. I have a lot of these, as evidenced by my constant reference to them, and this was no less paramount.
When did all popular musicians become raging fucking PUSSIES?!
Almost every song I was hearing, that wasn’t an “oldie” (by the radio’s terminology, apparently, i’m an old man. Fuck.), had some long drawn out bitching about the lives of the singers, followed by their appeal to the listener to help them. Take away my pills, let go of my pain, everything is fucked.
You guys are assholes. You are reprobates. And, you’re making music into shit.
What happened to the long hairs, who would don tight pants, and get “Fuck the World” tattoo’d on the back of their hands, and then sing about doing Heroin and Fucking a whole lot of women? What happened to Mötley Crue? Why must every song that is being written and produced be some whiney bitch song about how miserable some pretty boy’s life has become?

Ha.. Sadly I can’t fairly comment on the current state of Calgary Radio since well.. I never listen to it.. Well maybe CJSW, but that’s about it.
The fact that most radio stations are all owned by 1 or 2 companies (in North America), it doesn’t surprise me that people are paid out to play what the labels want to push.. I’m sure there are tones of monkeys analyzing the current state of pop culture trying to figure out the right “sound” for todays youth. Blamo.. “I’m depressed”… Where as back in day you were suppose to hide your depression perhaps, and just rock out with your c*** out.. :P
THe thing I can’t figure out, is how any woman finds these guys attractive. They bank a lot on that, and I don’t get it.

All I can say is…. I’m glad I’ve now got my Jeep iPod equiped, so now I never have to listen to the radio again (except of course to CJSW on Friday nights at 10:30pm for… Remote Emissions… of course). I can play whatever I want, as often as I want, with no CD hassle or commercial interruption. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
*now all I need is an LCD in the Jeep so I can put the video aspect of the iPod to good use. =oP
CJSW fridays at noon I believe is what time the show starts. Its called Punk up the Volume. Its a deadly show.
